Take a welcome break from smog, pollution, fast cars with blazing
horns, loud music, mutual funds, lure of money, sitting before the
idiot box; be away from familiar territory to an unknown territory for "
the holiday of your lifetime" at "Uttarayan"
P.O. Tripuradevi/Berinag, District Pithoragarh, Kumaun, Uttaranchal
-262531 (India) 460 Km from New Delhi, by road, with a breathtaking view of
the magnificent Himalayan Ranges situated at an altitude of
5300 ft.
The snow capped ranges are visible from the
rooms. The peaks which can be seen from here are Sunder Dunga, Nanda Ghunti,
Nanda Devi, Nanda Devi east, Nanda Khat, Nanadakhot, Panchchuli, Apa and Napa and
many more towards the east. They are so close that one can see the glaciers too
with the naked eye.
You wake up to the delightful sound of birds
call (of different kinds), a shepherd playing on his flute, village girls
singing while working in the fields, the babble of children going to school in
their tidy uniforms.
The first ray of sunlight on Panchchuli and on
the other peaks is heavenly sight, a sight which you can capture on your camera,
capture a moment that might be lost otherwise. The ranges on a full moonlight
are an unforgettable sight, a sight that evokes the thought, "Time
should stand still".
The garden around "Uttarayan" is
full of flowers of a myriad hues. Butterflies and bees dance about them, the
fresh pure air lifts one's senses as the soft swishing whisper from the pines
breaks the silence.
